Last Day of School: A Heartfelt Farewell Filled with Tears, Laughter & Memories

last day of school farewell

It is not about lessons and exams only, but about growing up, making friends, making memories, and learning the best lessons in life without even noticing it. Personally, my school was my second home for 14 years. I have been walking in the same gates, sitting in the same classrooms, and laughing in the same corridors all my entire childhood.
But one day there was a time - the last day of school. A day of laughter, tears and an experience I would never forget.

The First Day: When It All Started.

I can recall my initial day in school. My mother and father arrived to pick me up. I was a little terrified child who wept because I did not want to quit them. My parents could not stop laughing at the way I was attached to them and did not want to go to the classroom. It was a fearful and confusing day on that first day. But very gradually, days were transformed into months; months became years. I found friends, understood new things, matured, and made my comfort zone in such classrooms. School was not a building at all, but it was a part of me.

Fourteen Years Later...

Jump over to the 12th grade-- my last year in school. The year was full of everything jumbled in it: So much fun with friends, On stressful days so many tears, And the constant stress of tests and demands. Every day was a gem as we knew that we were about to end.

The Morning of the Last Day

Waking up on the first day of my final school day was not like any other. And it was my last time wearing my uniform. Millions of thoughts came to me as I buttoned my shirt and tied my shoelaces. Recollections of the entire years seemed like a film: crying on the first day, laughing with friends to the point of tears. I suddenly felt the tears in my eyes. It was a sad moment and I knew that it was the end of one of the final books of my life.

The Last Examination with a Saddened Heart.

This was the last day on which we had our board exams. However, no one was afraid of the paper, to be honest. We were shivering not with the questions-- but because we knew that once this was over school would be over. We scribbled our exams, with shaking hands, attempting to concentrate, and each minute of the clock brought our school life nearer to an end. As we had walked out of the exam hall after the bell had been rung, we had tears in our eyes. We were smiling at one another, pretending to be strong. Yet, somehow, we were all experiencing one thing that is the pain of goodbye.

Returning to Our School

That is why we had taken our exam in another school; hence after the exams, we went back to our school. The home where we spent 14 years of our lives. Our teachers were present, warmly smiling. We chatted, joked around, and tried to behave as usual, however the feelings were too much to suppress. All the walls and all the classrooms and all the corners of that school were whispering back our memories. The chalkboard, the benches, and the stage, all had their tale to tell.

The Farewell Evening

Our farewell function was carried out that evening. I was dressed in my uniform and wore my ID card on the final occasion. My friends picked me up at home as they had done so many times before. We joked on our way, made laughable jokes and discussed our future. Yet a sad heart hid behind all smiles. We had heard that after today all would be different. In going to school, the air was colorful. People all seemed so cheerful, whilst their eyes spoke the reverse. Our school had a dancer of fame, Vijay, who started the event with a spectacular performance. Everyone applauded, shouted and made an attempt to lengthen the moment. Performances took place one after another. Songs, speeches, dances, all this was more special as we were doing it for the last time.

Pictures, Promises, and Tears

The event was followed by a dinner with us all. It was not only a meal, but one that we would remember all our lives. We sat around and laughed outright and told our best memories.
Next was the emotional one, which was clicking pictures. We made group photos and selfies and weird poses. Each and every click broke our hearts. And then, the tears came. We embraced one another, and vowed, "We will always keep in touch with one another. It was then that I understood something beautiful and that school friends were not just friends. They're like family.

Teachers' Blessings

Our educators arrived and blessed us. Their expressions were clear and effective. Some said, Not that we told you off because we were angry, said they, but because we wished to see you doing better. You were not only our students, but our life as well. We cried again. It was like saying goodbye to those who have molded us to become what we are.

A Goodbye Full of Love

I had gone out through the school gate that evening, and all the things were different. The walls that had been there to see me laugh, to see me fear, to see me dream, and to see me grow and develop, were part of my soul now.
I went away with a sad but smiling face with 14 years of some memorable times.

The Making of the Last Day of School So Special.

The final school day is not only about a good goodbye speech and hugs. It is a day that makes us realize the way we have come. On the one hand, it is growth, friendship, love, and memorable moments, and on the other hand, it is the child of the first day crying to the young adult ready to meet the world. The memories of school farewell day will never be old, no matter the number of years that will have elapsed. They remind us of the time when things were simpler, when people were true to their word, and when one could be as happy as we are.
