The Forbidden Forest: A True Horror Story of Death and Darkness

A Horror Story of Death

Some places are never meant to be visited. Certain journeys never should have been scheduled. But six friends didn't believe in signs, forebodings, and local traditions.
And that is what made their three-day journey a nightmare.

The Beginning of the End

It was a sunny Friday morning, and three couples managed to get an idea of running into the woods and forgetting about city life. They were heading to a mysterious forest that is said to be haunted, which is precisely what thrill seekers like to put their courage to the test. There was one of them, Ginny--a sweet, innocent, and more than surprising girl. She could feel that something was not right at the very beginning unlike her friends. I do not think this is a good idea, Ginny said to herself. However, the others mocked her instead of listening to her. "Come on, Ginny," Marcus laughed. "Don't be such a scaredy cat." Her boyfriend was holding her by the hand. It is going to be the highlight of the year, babe. Trust me." Reluctantly, Ginny agreed.

The Warning Sign

A Horror Story of Death

They were thrilled as the car continued to move into the forest path. They sang, joked and recorded videos without knowing that the woods were surveying them in return.
Then they beheld it, a rusty old signboard, nailed on a tree: "STAY OUT. NO ENTRY." Ginny's smile faded. A chill ran down her spine. O, this does not augur well, she said to herself. But the rest only laughed, shook it off and continued driving. They left the car in the middle of the woods and began walking towards the heart of the forest. Ginny flattered herself that, before she went, she had noticed something odd, a strangled tangle of hair in the bark of a tree... and a rusted human fingernail near by. Troublemaker, Marcus, picked up the nail and tossed it into the woods as it was a game. Everyone laughed. Everyone except Ginny. This is not right, she said reprovingly. No one listened.

The First Night

It grew unnaturally quiet in the forest as the night came. No crickets. No wind. Only sheer silence that rubbed against their skin. The group set up their tents and made an attempt to sleep. But at some hour of the night, towards the middle, one couple heard it, a girl crying. The sniveling was gentle and keen, and fell into the tree tops. The couple went out with a flashlight in their hands. They had just been able to see a figure seated there on the cold ground, her hair tumbling down over her face. "Are you okay?" He asked. Her head slowly turned to their side. It was Ginny. She wore a blank expression that was as white as chalk. You are all going to die, both of you, she said. After which she laughed, the sound thereof being so cold as to send the leaves chilling... and was gone into the air. They ran home to the tent in terror. But sleep didn't save them. Several hours afterward, they heard their names being called outside. A shadow, which was broken, was creeping their way to their tent--the arms not in their usual positions, but backwards, legs not in their natural place, the head loose and hanging, as though the neck were broken. Their screams were heard in the woods...
But no one heard them. Both were killed atrociously in the dark.

Morning Horror

When Ginny and her boyfriend woke up at sunrise to wake up the couple they were horrified to see their tent torn to pieces. Their bodies were cold, twisted, and lifeless with their eyes fully opened in terror. Panic erupted. There were only four friends left, and their laughter which had been so good on the previous day was now taken the place by trembling hands and throbbing hearts. They blindly ran in the woods screaming. But the forest would not allow them to pass. Two couples got separated. At this point the second couple stumbled on something even worse: a concealed cannibal camp. A party of savage bloodthirsty individuals hauled them in. Their screams were muffled. They were sliced and cooked and consumed alive. The ghost laughed again somewhere nearby-- a voice which was heard as though it came from every direction.

The Village That Wasn't

The boy and Ginny ran and ran, as the mud stuck to their legs, the lungs aching. Just as they thought it was all over they noticed a light way, a small village. Old villagers emerged, with food, blankets and a bed. Ginny did her best to calm herself, yet she could not get the thought that something had gone wrong. The same night, when they were attempting to sleep, she heard a voice whispering in her ear: "Get out... this is my place.           You're next." and she laughed
ginny eyes snapped open. The tent was cold as the air in it, and her heart was beating itself deafeningly in her chest.

The Truth

Their tent was later caught by fire moments later. Ginny and her lover ran screaming away--but there they stopped in dismay. The village was gone. There instead was a field of ashes. Burned houses. Charred wood. Dead silence. The village was destroyed several years back. Ginny's body shook. Her boyfriend fell against her and was whispering, "It is alright. But it wasn't.

The Final Shadow

The same contorted shadow that murdered the first couple was visible in the distance. Its arms broke, legs disfigured, head hung at a horrifying angle. No sound accompanied its floating toward them. Ginny screamed and ran. The wood became darker in her direction. Her boyfriend followed - until the shadow snatched him. The final image Ginny had was of the creature around him like smoke and snapping his bones, one at a time. She attempted to flee, but it was too late. The shadow caught her. The flames were hurling round them and her last shriek fell into the forest. And off the friends all six had drifted.

Local People

Nobody ever visits that forest again. The car was discovered, and no single body by the police. The locals say it is damned - there is the spirit of vengeance and a cannibal clan. At night they say, when you stand on the edge of the woods, you hear a girl crying and a whisper: "You're next."
